Winners of the 2017 Fairgrounds Festival of Lights Canstruction Competition Announced

cans.JPGFour local Western New York companies recently competed to build structures made entirely out of canned goods during the 2017 Fairgrounds Festival of Lights Canstruction Competition. Employees from Praxair, Ferguson Electric, Hamburg Gaming and National Fuel took part in creating structures with all canned goods used benefiting the Food Bank of Western New York.

Teams had a total of 12 hours to build displays. Category winners included:

 Structural Ingenuity – National Fuel (Buffalo football helmet)

Best Meal – Praxair (Toy soldier with holiday scene)

Best Use of Labels – Hamburg Gaming (Batman)

Best Original Design – National Fuel (Buffalo football helmet)

Two additional award categories, “most cans” and “people’s choice” will be announced after the conclusion of the Festival.

The canstruction competition was part of this year’s Fairgrounds Festival of Lights currently taking place at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg. Now in its final days, the Festival runs daily through Saturday, December 23rd. The Festival is open from 5:00pm-9:00pm, with the buildings and grounds staying open until 10:00pm. Admission to the Fairgrounds Festival of Lights is $25 per carload at the gate. The carload admission includes all aspects of the Festival.
