Livestock & Equine Complex Specialist - Full Time/Non-Exempt

Job Overview
• Work directly with Livestock & Equine Complex Manager.
• Encourage and work cooperatively, and communicate effectively with volunteers, staff, representatives of specific interest groups, and outside service groups.
• Support the mission of the organization and help maintain the core values of the organization: excellence, integrity, and preservation of agriculture.

Essential Functions
• Assist with the on-site management of facilities used for fair and non-fair events.
• Maintain and monitor buildings and event facilities for safety, cleanliness and accommodation of event needs.
• Assist with event move-in and operations and ability to adapt and react to “last minute” requests of show organizers.
• Help coordinate teamwork on jobs requiring joint team cooperation and collaboration
• Effectively communicate with staff, interns, show promoters and committee volunteers
• Identify potential issues and provide solutions
• Assisting in coordinating the following:
• Organize required supplies
• Accommodate the needs of promoters
• Assist with event set ups and tear downs by using proactive planning. This includes clean up, setting pens, cleaning stalls, etc.
• Maintaining restrooms and trash (especially during events).
• Facilitate show and facility needs throughout the 12 days of the Fair, including change overs

• Ability to work easily and effectively with a wide range of people
• Ability to work both independently and in collaborative environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to learn quickly and be self-motivated
• Flexible and adaptable to change
• Must be able and willing to be scheduled to work evenings, weekends for shows as well as the 12 days of the Erie County Fair
• Ability to push/lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Those with ability to efficiently operate basic farm equipment (skid steer, tractor, tractor with drag, telehandler, forklift and aerial lift) will be given preference

Requirements
The ideal candidate must possess an extensive knowledge of the livestock & equine industries. Experience in stock show, equine events and trade shows and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications are also ideal.

Pay
• Position starts at $17 per hour
