The Plein Air Painting Contest will take place on Saturday, August 16th 2026, at the Erie County Fair. Artists who have pre-registered for the event will be painting outdoors throughout the day, capturing the vibrant scenes and atmosphere of the fairgrounds. Be sure to look for these talented exhibitors as you explore the fair—they’ll be set up with their easels, bringing the fair to life on canvas in real time. The contest features two divisions—Amateur and Professional—allowing artists of all experience levels to participate and compete among peers. Judging will be held in the Creative Arts Building, specifically in the Fine Arts and Photography Room, where completed works will be evaluated and recognized for their creativity and technique. This is a wonderful opportunity to witness art in action and celebrate the creativity of our local and regional artists.
