Growing Aces Media Growing Competition

Showcase Your Green Thumb!

The Erie County Agricultural Society introduced a new program this year that tied directly to its mission statement by showcasing a piece of agriculture. Each year, the Erie County Fair showcases thousands of entries from photographs to cucumbers to steers. We invited members of the media to be part of the all new, Growing Aces (a growing competition exclusive to media personality participants).

In partnership with Eden Valley Growers, participants were provided with the “Growing Aces Kit,” complete with the materials necessary to grow your plant; for 2023 we are growing Zucchini Squash!

Each of the peppers are judged individually based on the quality, uniformity and preparation of the specimens

The judging criteria includes:

a. Freedom of injury, disease, insect, sunburn etc.

b. Excellence in market size and quality

c. Trueness to variety type

d. Uniformity of size, shape, color and maturity

e. Attractiveness, Cleanliness, color

The Erie County Agricultural Society is hosting a competition that is tied directly to its mission statement by showcasing a piece of agriculture. Each year, the Erie County Fair showcases thousands of entries from photographs to cucumbers to steers. We invite you to be part of the all new, Growing Aces, a growing competition exclusive to media personality participants. The program will run from late May until early August.

In partnership with Eden Valley Growers, we will provide you with the “Growing Aces Kit,” complete with the materials necessary to grow your plant; for 2023 we are growing zucchini squash! You don’t have to be a growing expert. All you need to do is supply the location, care and the water. Eden Valley Growers will also provide you assistance during the growing process.

Pending the guidelines we receive for the Erie County Fair, entries will be on display inside the Ag-Grange Building for the length of time they are in prime condition.* Entries will be judged to receive 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd. Top score will be awarded the 2023 Growing Aces Champion!
