Showcase Your Green Thumb!

In celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary, the Erie County Agricultural Society is proud to present the Growing Aces Media Growing Competition, highlighting agriculture in a fun and engaging way while honoring a historic milestone.
Each year, the Erie County Fair features thousands of entries throughout the Fair, including photographs, woodcarving, canning, vegetables, Afghans, Lego builds and more. Growing Aces invites local media personalities to be part of this tradition through an exclusive growing competition that runs from June through early August.

This Year’s Theme: Red, White & Purple Peppers
In partnership with Eden Valley Growers and Agle’s Farm Market, participants will receive a Growing Aces Kit containing everything needed to grow red, white, and purple pepper varieties. No gardening expertise is required! Participants simply provide the location, care, and water. Eden Valley Growers will be available throughout the growing season to offer guidance and support.

Display & Judging
As per Erie County Fair guidelines, entries will be displayed inside the Ag‑Grange Building for as long as they remain in prime condition.
Judging will take place live on Fair Day Live, giving Fairgoers and viewers the opportunity to follow along as the entries are evaluated. Peppers will be judged individually based on quality, uniformity, and preparation.
Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with the top‑scoring entry earning the title of 2026 Growing Aces Champion, along with a ribbon and an engraved gardening tool set courtesy of CUTCO.

Share Your Progress
Participants are asked to share updates throughout the growing season, including pickup, planting, and each stage of growth, along with reminding their followers to get their entries submitted online, through your social media using #ECFGrowingAces.
